2014 Stella Prize winner, Clare Wright, will deliver a lecture entitled On Forgetting at this year’s Sydney Writers’ Festival
We commemorate Remembrance Day each year, bowing our heads to recall our war dead, stopping the nation with a minute’s silence. But what would happen if we downed tools for Forgetting Day? Could we fit all the people, events and places that have slipped off our collective national radar into twenty-four hours, let alone sixty solemn seconds of grief?
This year’s Stella Prize winner Clare Wright reflects on the nature of historical memory: who we remember and what we choose—to our psychic and civic detriment—to forget.
When: 2.30 to 3.10 pm, Friday 23 May 2014
Where: Pier 2/3 Bloomberg Stage, Pier 2/3, Hickson Road, Walsh Bay
